Special note on Black Copper Marans hatching eggs:

Please be aware that egg color varies greatly on a number of factors, including the age of the bird and where she is in her laying cycle. Each hen in our breeding program laid a 7 or 8 on the color chart at some point in her life. Please do not expect to receive eggs for hatching that are all a 7 or 8 on the color chart. We show pictures of some of our very dark eggs to demonstrate what you should be able to attain using our stock with a solid breeding program of your own. We hatch out many, many of these birds each year and we only keep the best of the best for our breeding program. In short, if you receive lighter eggs, rest assured that the bird that laid your egg is only in our breeding program because, at one point in her life, she was laying those very dark, rich eggs.

Hatching Egg orders are scheduled on a first come first serve basis.

Please include your preferred ship date in the notes section of your order. If you leave the notes section blank, your eggs will be shipped out once the order is available and filled. Eggs orders ship out Monday-Wednesdays. If we are not able to ship out your order for the date you desired we will reach out to schedule the next available option. Once shipped, the eggs typically arrive in 1-3 business days.

Our eggs are packaged with the utmost care and are the same eggs we personally use to hatch our chicks with a 90%+ hatch rate. Please remember that 50% development rate from shipped eggs is widely accepted as the standard, but you may see more or less. The reality is once your package leaves our farm, the United States Postal Service is in control of your eggs.  In the past, our customers have had excellent service and hatch rates, but there is never a guarantee.  We place our trust in the hands of every USPS worker across the United States.  Therefore, Huxley’s Homestead cannot be held responsible for the care of your eggs during shipping or hatch rates.
